Nearly half

I’m near the half-way point on the Pacific Crest Trail. To celebrate, here’s my hike in numbers thus far:

  • Miles hiked from Mexico: 1,289
  • Pairs of shoes worn: 3
  • “Zero” (non-hiking) days spent off the trail: 22
  • Bears spotted: 3 (two from my tent in the night and one in town)
  • Bottles of sunscreen: 6
  • Food resupply points: 18
  • Pairs of socks worn out: 5
  • Showers taken: 16 (does not include showers taken during a recent 10-day break from the trail)
  • Snickers bars eaten: 1
  • Rattlesnakes seen: 4
  • Lara bars consumed: 53
  • Biggest milage in one day: 27
  • Smallest (non-zero) milage in one day: 2
  • Pounds of dried fruit eaten: 14
  • Visitors from home: 5
  • Miles remaining: 1,374
